At midnight on 21 December 2011, Zoran Janković stood down pre-term from his position as Mayor. Since 22 December 2011 and until elections for a replacement Mayor take place, the role of Mayor is being performed pro tempore by Aleš Čerin.
The Mayor until now, Zoran Janković and his party (Zoran Janković’s List – Positive Slovenia) stood in pre-term elections to the National Assembly, which were held on 4 December 2011. The party took 28.51% of the votes and is now the largest party in the National Assembly, while Zoran Janković has become a Member of Parliament. As being an MP is incompatible with the post of Mayor, Zoran Janković has stood down pre-term from his position.
