Bag dispenser

A dispenser for biodegradable bags set up at the central market

Within the framework of the campaign »For a more beautiful Ljubljana 2019« we are continuing the activities of the socially responsible campaign »I’m not lasting, but therefore less annoying«, with which we are highlighting the excessive use of plastic bags. In April 2019, we have set up a bag dispenser at the central market where shoppers can take free-of-charge biodegradable bags. The bag dispenser is going to be available for 30 days.

We are pleased that shoppers are increasingly aware of the negative impacts of plastic bags on the environment and that they go shopping with reusable bags, that is, with other types of environment friendly packaging (biodegradable or paper bags, textile bags, baskets…). But is still happens that they don’t have a bag with them, and that is why we have set up a bag dispenser where they can get free-of-charge biodegradable bags. This way they can avoid taking offered plastic bags while shopping, thinking of the environment. While it takes as long as 100 years for plastic bags to decompose in nature, biodegradable bags disintegrate along with their contents into compost which makes new plants grow, closing the natural cycle, and therefore they are not an additional burden for the environment.

Bags from the dispenser are appropriate for storing food (Bioplast GF 106/02 certificate), they have the SEEDLING 7P2029 certificate confirming that the bags can be composted, and the VINCOTTE S396 / OK COMPOST HOME certificate which means that the bags can be thrown away into household compost.
