18th Ljubljana Marathon

On 26 and 27 October 2013, nearly 22 thousand runners participated in the Volkswagen 18th Ljubljana Marathon, which is the highest number to date.

On Saturday, the Ljubljana Marathon featured several running races for groups of preschool children, elementary and high school students as well as this year's new addition to the event – the Fun Run.
The 10km run, the half marathon and the marathon took place on Sunday. Saturday races featured 6,540 runners, whereas Sunday competitions had 12,795 runners (5,038 participated in the 10km run and 7,757 took part in the 21km half marathon and the 42km marathon).

The winners of this year's marathon were Ethiopian Wami Mulugeta and Kenyan Caroline Chepkwony. The fastest half marathon runners were Mitja Krevs and Lidija Cerkovnik, while the 10km run was won by Maruša Mišmaš and Blaž Grad.

Another novelty at this year's marathon was a free bus ride for marathon participants and visitors as well as free parking in the P+R parking zones.
