In the past ten years Ljubljana has carried out numerous large-scale and demanding investment projects in the area of kindergartens and schools thus creating a healthy and pleasant environment for the youngest and schoolchildren.

In addition to maintenance work for a healthier environment, renovation of outdated gymnasiums, kitchens and dining halls, libraries, boiler rooms, specialised classrooms, lighting, acoustic adaptations, all of which are already established as part of the yearly programme, we replaced asbestos roofing on kindergarten and school buildings between 2008 and 2010, and in 2013 we have started performing comprehensive energy building renovation works in kindergartens and schools. Since 2013 until 2017 energy renovation work has been carried out in 24 kindergarten and school buildings already, the energy-saving aspect was covered by grants obtained from cohesion funds and the rest the comprehensive refurbishment was funded from the city budget.

To mark all these projects we have prepared a publication on the biggest investment achievements in the field of investment maintenance in kindergartens and schools in Ljubljana from 2007 until 2017 and an accompanying exhibition titled »2007-2017: from Kindergarten to School« which is on display in the Central Atrium of the City Hall until 10 September 2017.

The booklet was published in 300 copies and it is aimed especially at developers, architects, kindergartens, schools, etc., so they can get their hands on a retrospective of joint achievements, and also at the public interested in the achievements of the City of Ljubljana in the area of school and preschool education.
