4th Ljubljana Forum

The 4th Ljubljana Forum, the annual gathering that combines knowledge and experience of city governance and defines key areas, visions and strategies of the future development of cities, took place between 24 and 26 September 2014 in Ljubljana.

This year's Ljubljana Forum on the future of the cities has fallen in the year of the venerable anniversary – 2000 years of the Emona establishment, the predecessor of Ljubljana today. It is the reason this year's Forum was dedicated to CITY. The turning point from 2000 years ago – today, the year 2025 and later was discussed in the fields of transport, water, energy, culture, health, security and employment. Our past experience instructs us how to design clear, inclusive, innovative, smart and sustainable development visions.

The Ljubljana Forum objective is to unite stakeholders of cities, regions, countries, European Union institutions and investors to financial institutions and the research sphere; and to introduce good practice and specific suggestions of mutual collaboration.

The Forum also featured a round table of mayors and deputy mayors of the Danube region cities discussing key problematic of managing water and transport, pointing out visible city projects and introducing future visions and strategies of water and transport management in the cities. The round table of was attended alongside Mayor Zoran Janković by Shpend Ahmeti, mayor of Prishtina; Nevila Xhindi, Deputy Mayor of Tirana; Marko Filipović, Deputy Mayor of Rijeka; Irina Yordanova, City Councillor of Sofia; Milutin Folić, city architect of Belgrade; and Dragutin Dijeković, manager of Podgorica.
