Acknowledgement document of the slovenian archaeological society
On 3 December 2014 the Slovenian Archaeological Society awarded prizes, awards and acknowledgement documents for the year 2014. Jerneja Batič, a Fellow of the Department of Culture also received an acknowledgement document for successful coordination of the Ljubljana Archaeological Parks renovation project and for the coordination of the Emona 2000 project.
The revitalised archaeological parks of the Emona house, early Christian centre and Roman wall are interconnected into a two-kilometre long circular route linking ten recognisable points interspersed with ancient monuments in the city centre. The aim of the project was the organisation of facilities for archaeological presentation of Emona, conservation and revitalisation of parks, sustainable and comprehensive preservation of cultural heritage and its integration with the modern lifestyle as well as the revival of the monuments with programmes dedicated for different target groups.
In 2014/2015 we celebrate 2000 years of construction of Emona, which is of great historical, cultural and social importance for Ljubljana, whereby the City of Ljubljana commemorates the high anniversary with events and a programme that appeals to wide, both lay and professional, public. The celebration is an opportunity to attain the set targets, upgrade them and participate in raising awareness about the importance of cultural heritage, while improving the state of its preservation, introducing the modern approaches in the promotion of cultural heritage and the creation of new concepts in its preservation and presentation.
