AFE-INNOVNET closing meeting in Brussels
From 7 to 9 December 2015, the closing meeting of the AFE-INNOVNET project partners was held in Brussels attended by two representatives of the City of Ljubljana.
The City of Ljubljana is a partner in the AFE-INNOVNET Thematic Network whose aim is to connect local and regional communities, industry, research institutes and civil society so they can work together in finding and developing smart and innovative solutions to support active and healthy aging as well as to contribute to the development of age-friendly environments.
During the two-year project, concluding on 31 January 2016, partners and associated members (there are currently over 300 members) are presenting their good practices in the field of aging (the representatives of the City of Ljubljana delivered three presentations in this timeframe – a presentation on services and programmes for the elderly, a presentation regarding at home assistance service and a computer class presentation).
On the first day of the closing meeting, the Covenant on Demographic Change was introduced, to which the City of Ljubljana also acceded. The Covenant is based on the Dublin Declaration (signed by the City of Ljubljana in 2011 and 2013) and, in addition to cities, it is open to other stakeholders (i.e, national and European offices, civil society organisations, research centres). By joining the Covenant the signatories undertake to adopt an action plan on age-friendly environments (the City of Ljubljana already has such a plan and is preparing the next one). In addition, a network of Covenant supporters will connect members and enable the exchange of good practices.
Within the framework of the meeting, workshops were organised for the support of local and regional stakeholders in the preparation and implementation of their action plans on age-friendly environments.
