The performance The Republic of Slovenia, a coproduction of Mladinsko Theatre and Maska Institute, won the Šeligo Award for best production at The Week of Slovenian Drama.

The expert committee highlighted the creative production concept questioning the individual’s relationship with politics, opening public dialogue and the social impact of its message making it impossible for the audience to remain indifferent.

The performance The Republic of Slovenia was created at the 25th anniversary of Slovenian independence: at its 60th anniversary the Mladinsko Theatre, one of the more prominent ambassadors of Slovenian art abroad, committed itself to look with pride into events which have constituted the state, which have left a crucial imprint on the national fibre and have awoken us as national subjects, as citizens. The theatre is joined by the Maska Institute, founded at the exact same time as the events occurred because of which the Republic of Slovenia is the way it is.
