CHAIRity – they got a new lease on life

On Monday, 5 February 2018, at the City Hall, Mayor Zoran Janković hosted the children from Ljubljana’s primary schools who took part in workshops renovating old chairs for the CHAIRity project.

The innovative project CHAIRity – A New Lease on Life was developed for the EUROCITIES conference which was held November last year in Ljubljana. As a reminder, last year we called upon the citizens of Ljubljana to donate their old or worn-out chairs and then we renovated the ones suitable for recycling in workshops organised by the cultural ecological society Smetumet and attended by pupils from primary schools Oskar Kovačič, Danila Kumar and Tone Čufar.
The renovated and recycled chairs which were given a new lease on life were featured as an example of circular economy as part of the scenography at the EUROCITIES conference, and now they found their place at the premises of the public waste management company Snaga, primary schools Oskar Kovačič and Tone Čufar and at the headquarters of the Public Institute Young Dragons.
