The City of Ljubljana joins the European Waste Reduction Week, taking place from 19 to 27 November, with the campaign Fast fashion pollutes even faster.

The slogan of this year's European Waste Reduction Week, Waste is out of fashion, encourages us to reuse and repair textiles and clothing to reduce the generation of textile waste.

In Slovenia, as many as 17,000 tons of waste textiles are thrown away yearly. As much as 87% of the textile waste produced by Europeans ends up in incinerators or landfills. Since textile waste places a heavy burden on the environment, it is important to reduce its amount.

We support the awareness of young fashion designers

Zoja Muhič, a Textile and Fashion Design student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, has launched the campaign PLASTIC is TEXTILE is CLOTHING; CLOTHING is TEXTILE is PLASTIC within the framework of the European Waste Separation Week. Zoja addresses the problem of synthetic materials in the textile industry, which are not biodegradable and pollute our planet.
