The Castle courtyard plays host to a summer film festival entitled 'Film under the stars' from 28 July to 20 August 2011.

This year's event makes it the sixth year in a row that 'Film under the stars' has been attracting large numbers of film lovers to Castle Hill.

This year, you will be able to take in 24 films under the starry sky. As cinematic delicacies at Ljubljana Castle this year there are to be as many as eight premieres or avantpremieres. A novelty of this year's programme is to be the avantpremiere screening of a brand-new 35mm print of a Hollywood classic.

Other films have been selected under the following keys: Kinodvor blockbusters, some flagship films from the last Ljubljana international film festival, a selection of some flagship films from the last cinematic season and films for full weekend entertainment.

All films start at 9.30pm. The projection stops or is cancelled in the event of rain. Tickets may then be exchanged for any other screening at Ljubljana Castle or at the sales point for a full refund. Films curtailed or cancelled by rain may be seen the following day at Kinodvor at 9.30pm. Tickets may be purchased or exchanged at the Kinodvor box office for admission to the affected film up to the point that the theatre capacity is reached. Tickets for 'Films under the stars' can be obtained at the Info centre at Ljubljana Castle (open every day from 9am to 9pm), at the lower station of the funicular to the Castle, at Kompas sales outlets throughout Slovenia, as well as online at www.ljubljanskigrad.si and www.mojekarte.si. Tickets may also be bought at the sales point at Ljubljana Castle an hour prior to the screening. The Kinodvor box office has for sale only tickets for replacement screenings at Kinodvor. The cost of a return ticket for the funicular for visitors to 'Film under the stars' is €2.
