First public liquid natural gas charging station for cargo vehicles in Slovenia

On 30 November 2017, the public company Energetika Ljubljana opened the first liquid natural gas charging station for cargo vehicles in Slovenia at Podutik Street 99 representing a decisive step towards reducing the carbon print and emissions from transport.

The set-up of the first liquid natural gas charging station for cargo vehicles in Slovenia is a small step towards limiting the impact on the environment and a big step towards providing a new universal fuel as the deputy director of Energetika Ljubljana Srečko Trunkelj accentuated at the opening. Namely in the first quarter of 2018 Energetika Ljubljana is also launching the distribution of natural gas from the liquid natural gas storage in the municipality of Grosuplje or as Trunkelj emphasised: »These two projects have established the liquid natural gas supply logistics in Slovenia and so the fuel is going to be available to everyone who wants to, with unchanged functionality of machines and vehicles, the same convenience and, what is especially important, lower costs, reduce the carbon print.«

Mayor Zoran Janković did not hide how proud he is of another important achievement for the environment. He joked that before the state could write an energy concept Ljubljana has already implemented one, and he added that many companies could emulate the public sector, that is, public companies who know how to plan and implement important environmental projects and at the same time provide competitive services. He also highlighted the development plans of Energetika Ljubljana, namely, the construction of a combined cycle gas-fired power plants and the expansion of the gas network into the municipality of Grosuplje: »We can all be pleased that we are so progressive. Ljubljana can be a role model for the whole Europe.«

The construction of the liquid natural gas charging station in Ljubljana is a Slovenian-Spanish partnership project involving companies ENOS, d.d., Energetika Ljubljana d.o.o. and HAM CRIOGENICA, S.L. The project is co-financed by EU. Further information on the project is available bellow.
