Prof. Dr. Jože Mencinger, Honorary Citizen of Ljubljana, lawyer, economist and politician, passed away.

Prof. Dr. Mencinger was a full-time professor of political economy and statistics at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana, a member of the Council of the Bank of Slovenia, a full member of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, former Minister of Economy and Deputy Prime Minister, and recipient of the title Honorary Citizen of Ljubljana in 2020.

In an interview for the Ljubljana newsletter, he highlighted, among other things, that his view of Ljubljana changed as the city changed, which, according to foreigners, is one of the cleanest and safest cities, which has all the infrastructure of multi-million cities, and at the same time it is a half an hour away from the Krvavec mountain and an hour and a half from the sea. »That is why living in Ljubljana is pleasant; in one hour you can get from north to south or from east to west by bicycle,« said the Honorable Citizen.

We will keep Prof. Dr. Jože Mencinger in respectful memory.
