Kinobalon wins award

Kinobalon has been awarded the Europa Cinemas award for the best programme for children and young people 2010.

The Best Young Audience Activities Award was presented to the Kinodvor programme for children and young people at the 15th Europa Cinemas conference, which ran in Paris from 18 to 21 November 2010. This year's conference, attended by French Culture Minister Frédéric Mitterrand, saw participation from more than 700 filmmakers from 48 countries, among whom were well-known faces such as Wim Wenders, Claude Miller, Julie Gayet and Thierry Frémaux.

The award was accepted on Kinodvor's behalf by Koen Van Daele, assistant programme director and Barbara Kelb, responsible for the Kinobalon programme for children and young people. At the invitation of conference organisers, Koen Van Daele also took part in a round table entitled 'How can the film theatre appeal to the web generation?'

A further pleasant surprise awaited the Kinodvor team on Friday 19 November when Delo newspaper's Vikend ('Weekend') editors awarded them the creativity gong for 2010.
