The electric tourist train Urban is again driving through Ljubljana. The environment friendly vehicle without harmful emissions operates on a circular route with 10 stations. According to the train’s timetable the first ride starts every day at 9.30 and the last one at 20.00.

The tourist train Urban has ten stops on its route: Town Hall, Ljubljana Castle, Špica/Botanic Garden, Trnovski pristan Embankment, Plečnik House, Križanke, Congress Square, Parliament, Opera and Ajdovščina. The train passengers are offered a video presentation of the biggest landmarks in Ljubljana accompanied by an audio presentation in nine languages: Slovene, English, German, Italian, Croatian, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.

Circular rides throughout the day

The train is available to passengers every day of the week, every 90 minutes. It goes on its first ride at 9.30 from the Town Hall station on Stritar Street and the last at 20.00. The circular route is 9 km long. Passengers can purchase tickets for the circular ride from the driver, in the Ljubljana Tourism Tourist Information Centre, in the LPP Passenger Centre at Bavarski dvor or online. The price of the ticket for children is 4 EUR and for adults 8 EUR. Rides are free of charge for children up to three years of age. Groups of 15 passengers or more get a 25% discount. A ticket is valid for a whole day. Passengers can hop on or off the train at any station.

Environment friendly vehicle

The train is comprised of a towing vehicle, »locomotive«, and two cars. One train car has 28 seats arranged in 7 rows of 4 seats, the second train car has 24 seats arranged in 6 rows of 4 seats and space for a wheelchair for movement impaired people. All passengers are seated in the direction of driving.

In the public procurement procedure for the purchase of the vehicle the company Setekar d.o.o. from Celje won the bid with a vehicle made by the German manufacturer Sightseeing Trains Rügen GmbH for 415,200 euro excluding VAT.
