In Prague, on 22 and 23 September 2017, the Ljubljana Days in Prague were held where we presented Ljubljana, Plečnik’s home town and UNESCO City of Literature.

Within the scope of the presentation the photographic exhibition Plečnik’s Ljubljana by author Matevž Paternoster was on display at the Old Town Hall.

In the Plečnik year 2017, when we are commemorating the 145th anniversary of the birth and the 60th anniversary of the death of the greatest Slovenian architect, the exhibition is featuring a selection of Plečnik’s most striking buildings and arrangements which left the master’s unique mark on Ljubljana.

On 23 September, a cultural programme was carried out in front of Plečnik’s church. Visitors could see a concert of Slovenian popular songs performed by the Ljubljana Music and Ballet Conservatory, a modern circus performance by Bufeto Institute, fantasy of urban dances, modern dance and contact improvisation by the dance duet Gašper Kunšek and Teja Modrijan, and the Marko Hartlak Band concert. The events were complemented by the Library under the Treetops, a reading attraction under the treetops for the young and the old with literary and children’s events.

Ljubljana Tourism set up an information point designed in a relaxed and interactive way including the Plečnik Café where people could unwind, drink coffee or tea and by doing so they found out how to best experience Ljubljana. Traditional Ljubljana dishes under the trade mark Okusi Ljubljane (Taste Ljubljana) were also served in the café, and some of Ljubljana’s public institutes in the field of culture presented their activities, as well.

At the Ljubljana Days in Prague we also presented Ljubljana, UNESCO City of Literature (Prague holds this title, as well). Two recipients of the EU Literary Award took part in the literary evening The Lake In/Half. Jasmin B. Frelih and Bianca Bellová read from their books. The evening was moderated by Hana Mzourkova and Aljaž Koprivnikar. APNOA provided the musical and visual accompaniment.
