Ljubljana finalist for the Eurocities Awards 2021

Ljubljana has been included in the final selection for the Eurocities Awards 2021 with the project of the quality renovation of the main part of Slovenska cesta in the category Planning public spaces – presenting innovative solutions.

The formal event, which took place on 4 November, was hosted by the Mayor of Leipzig, Burkhard Jung, who publicly pointed out at the awards ceremony that his favourite project among the finalists was Ljubljana's.

"It is a special honour for Ljubljana that we have been placed alongside such developmentally advanced cities in the sustainable sense as Copenhagen and Utrecht. The meaning of all this is learning and imitating good practices," underscored the Deputy Mayor of the City of Ljubljana, Prof. Janez Koželj, who attended the announcement ceremony.

Ljubljana as a member of the Eurocities organisation

Eurocities is a leading network of more than 200 major European cities from 38 countries working together to improve the quality of life. At the forefront are people who, through their participation, actually contribute to a more inclusive society, healthy environment, open public space, better economic growth… Ljubljana became an associate member of the network in 1995, and in November 2017, we hosted a Eurocities conference.
