Ljubljana, signatory of a transnational commitment to promoting cycling

On Sunday, 12 June 2022, we signed a transnational commitment to promoting cycling as part of the Vienna Declaration and received cyclists who came on bikes from Vienna to the world's largest cycling conference Velo-city 2022.

The pan-European cycling promotion plan, the Pan-European Master Plan for Cycling Promotion, is the first transnational plan of its kind to go beyond the EU. The plan was adopted in May 2021 within the framework of the Vienna Declaration.

The commitment includes 54 countries, among them all 27 EU Member States, and the key goal of the commitment is to double the number of cyclists by 2030. The signatories have committed themselves to developing and implementing a national cycling policy aimed at doubling the number of cyclists by 2030.

From Vienna to Ljubljana for even more cycling

Cyclists who rode their bikes from Vienna to Ljubljana on Sunday, 12 June, to the world's largest cycling meeting Velo-city 2022, are thus encouraging the implementation of a transnational plan to promote cycling.
