Marjan Rožanc Awards 2022

On Thursday, 24 November 2022, in the City Hall, we presented the Marjan Rožanac Awards for 2022, the highest awards of the City of Ljubljana for achievements and work in the field of sports.

The Rožanc award for outstanding sports achievements was presented to Ajda Novak. Ajda Novak is a 29-year-old Slovenian whitewater canoeist who has been competing at the professional level for 13 years already and has achieved quite a few high-profile results during this time.

The awards for long-term work in the professional and organisational field were presented to:


Gorazd Penko
Gorazd Penko has been a member of the Cycling Association Rog since 1977. He achieved his first major competitive success in cycling as a member of the then outstanding Cycling Team Rog, he was the winner of the Alpe Adria stage race, he was second in the race Across Yugoslavia, he won several national champion titles in various disciplines and after an exceptional competitive career, he continued as a coach of the first Cycling Team Rog and as the head coach of the national team, where he achieved impressive successes at the highest world level with Andrej Hauptman and Zoran Klemenčič.

Aleš Peče
Aleš Peče dedicated his life to pedagogical work, basketball and sports in general.

Slobodan Kitić
Slobodan Kitić is an 84-year-old Slovenian football expert who has been active for over 43 years and has left an indelible mark on Ljubljana's football with his pedagogical work with young football players.

About the award

The Marjan Rožanc Award is the highest recognition of the City of Ljubljana in the field of sports, which is presented to nonprofessional workers in sports, athletes, sports teachers, professional sports workers and sports journalists for outstanding sports achievements in the previous year or for successful work performed over a longer period of time.
