Mayor Zoran Janković visited Belgrade and Novi Sad

On Monday and Tuesday, 4 and 5 February 2019, Mayor Zoran Janković and his delegation visited Novi Sad and Belgrade.

In Novi Sad he met with Mayor Miloš Vučević and congratulated him on two prestigious European titles Novi Sad has received. This year the city is the Youth Capital of Europe and in 2021 it is going to be the European Capital of Culture.

Among other things, the mayors discussed Serbia’s rapprochement to the European Union, economic cooperation between the states and the cities and further development of relations in the area of culture. They have also committed themselves to the continuation of good relations between Ljubljana and Novi Sad.

In Belgrade the Mayor was welcomed by the President of the Republic of Serbia Alеksandar Vučić and the Mayor of Beograde Zoran Radojičić.

President of Serbia Alеksandar Vučić and Mayor Zoran Janković highlighted good relations between Ljubljana and Belgrade. The President stressed the significance of Ljubljana for Serbia as their cities can learn a lot from us and adopt our projects. Mayor Zoran Janković said Ljubljana is prepared to share its good practices and knowledge which was the foundation for receiving the prestigious title European Green Capital 2016 Belgrade was also running for. In addition, he expressed his wish for Serbia to join the European union as soon as possible.

Then the Mayor was hosted by the Mayor of Belgrad Zoran Radojičić, who stressed the significance of the cooperation between both cities. They talked about building upon the cooperation between the cities and the transposition of our good practices to Belgrade. Mayor Radojičić expressed how pleased he was the Mayor and his colleagues came to visit as, in his words, Ljubljana attained numerous goals he as Mayor of Belgrade wants to achieve, as well. Within this framework they talked primarily about ensuring efficient public transport, about waste management and the electric vehicle rental system which has been successfully introduced in Ljubljana. They have also turned their attention to the title Ljubljana, European Green Capital 2016, as this year Beograd is going to enter the competition for this prestigious title, as well.

During the visit to Belgrade the Mayor attended the opening of the exhibition of best projects titled Little Sava.
