Meeting of the Rainbow Cities Network in Barcelona

On 8 and 9 November 2018, the 6th meeting of the Rainbow Cities Network was held in Barcelona, with Ljubljana as its member since 2014.

Representatives of rainbow cities regularly get together at an annual meeting in one of the members of the network. Last year the meeting was held in Ljubljana, and this year Barcelona hosted it.

At this year’s meeting the participants formalized the Rainbow Cities Network which is going to have its headquarters in the Netherlands. Many new cities are interested in joining the network, among them Helsinki, Lisbon, Frankfurt and Tel Aviv. The Rainbow Cities Network is going to be headed by a committee under the presidency of Hannover and it is also going to include representatives of Rotterdam, Manheim, Brussels and Paris.

The aim of the network is primarily the exchange of good practices and experiences in the LGBT field. During the meeting we have exchanged news from individual cities, we have come to an agreement on joint projects (joint photographic exhibition in May) and met with non-governmental organisations in Barcelona.
