New commitments of Ljubljana in the area of social rights

Ljubljana signed a commitment for additional three principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights. It pertains to gender equality, equal opportunity and work-life balance.

One of the key areas in Ljubljana is establishing a society where everyone regardless of their gender or any other characteristic has equal rights and opportunities to attain their goals. Our commitments are based on the Gender Equality Action Plan of the City of Ljubljana adopted last year by the City Council.

The new commitment of the City of Ljubljana to the European Pillar of Social Rights was presented during an online conference, organised by the Eurocities network on 30 September 2020, to the European Parliament, the European Commission and city representatives by the equal opportunities coordinator in the City of Ljubljana, Simona Topolinjak.

Already the third commitment of Ljubljana

This commitment in already the third one the City of Ljubljana made to the European Pillar of Social Rights. At the end of 2018 we signed the first commitment regarding the application of principles in the area of health care and homeless housing and assistance, and in 2019 a commitment pertaining to the inclusion of people with disabilities.
