Official visit to budapest

Mayor Zoran Janković and a delegation from the City of Ljubljana made an visit to Budapest on 16 and 17 June 2011.

During the official visit, the Mayor met Mayor of Budapest Istvan Tarlós, with whom he discussed bilateral co-operation between Ljubljana and Budapest above all in the fields of sport, culture, business and tourism and the mutual naming of streets in Ljubljana and Budapest after important historical and cultural personalities.

Mayor Zoran Janković also met the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly László Kövér. In the morning of Friday 17 June the Mayor of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Ambassador to Hungary met representatives of the Slovenian business community in Budapest.

The Mayoral visit took place within the framework of Ljubljana Days in Budapest, an event that is being run as part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Slovenian independence.

The following artists appeared at the Ljubljana Days in Budapest, which ran from 9 to 19 June 2011: Teo Spiller (the Good Institute for contemporary art) showcased his installation Life, Ljubljana Puppet Theatre staged their performance of Little Critters based on motifs from Lila Prap's book directed by Barbara Bulatović, the Katalena group gave a concert of folk rock, En-knap staged a performance of modern dance entitled 10 min south, Zvonka T. Simčič exhibited a video installation called 'ad utero ab ovo' which opened with a performance in partnership with France Cegnar.
