Open-air Cinema at Congress Square

Again this year, the Open-air Cinema at Congress Square provides an unforgettable film experience. Between 22 and 25 August 2022, four first-class film creations dedicated to important film anniversaries await us. All screenings are admission-free.

On Monday, 22 August, we will open the Open-air Cinema at Congress Square with Ernest Lubitsch's To Be or Not to Be, a comedy about Nazism, filmed in 1942 and set in occupied Warsaw. On Tuesday, 23 August, we are dedicating the screening of the film In the Mood for Love (Fa yeung nin wah, 2000) to actor Tony Leung for his 60th anniversary.

On Wednesday, 24 August, we will pay tribute to the centenary of actress Veronica Lake with the film Sullivan's Travels (1941). On the 50th anniversary of the film, we will say goodbye to Congress Square and open-air screenings with Bob Fosse's Cabaret.

This year's edition of the Open-air Cinema at Congress Square will be held for the eighth time, and with it, the city cinema stands alongside comparable and important projects in the field of cultural tourism in Locarno, Vienna, Paris, London and Bologna. The programme can be found here.

The screenings of the Open-air Cinema at Congress Square are admission-free and scheduled every day at 21:00 (even in case of rain). The films are screened in the original language with Slovenian and English subtitles. The event is facilitated by Ljubljana Tourism and the insurance company Zavarovalnica Triglav.
