Presentation of the Rainbow Ljubljana in Brussels

On International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) the 5th European IDAHOT Forum was held in Brussels bringing together political decision-makers, experts and representatives of various organisations.

The main theme of this year’s conference at the IDAHOT Forum was intersexuality – biological, that is, physical sex ambiguity or inability to define the baby’s gender at birth. One of the guests, for instance, was Belgian model Hanne Gaby Odiele who recently decided to speak out about intersexuality.

Within the framework of the conference a round table on LGBT friendly cities was held, where the representative of the City of Ljubljana Dr Simona Topolinjak presented Ljubljana’s good practise cases in the LGBT field – support for non-governmental organisations and diverse awareness-raising campaigns. The round table featured representatives of three other cities (Brussels, Manchester, Mexico City), the coordinator of the Rainbow Cities Network, a representative of Malta and a UN representative in the LGBT field.

In addition, the results of various studies were presented at the conference and representatives of countries/cities and activists addressed the challenges.
