Reduced price of heat in Ljubljana from November on

As of 1 November 2022, the public energy company Energetika Ljubljana reduced the variable price of heat for district heating users by more than 13 per cent.

The new price of heat in Ljubljana is 79 EUR per megawatt hour, which is 12 EUR less than the current price (91.4 EUR/MWh). The key reason why Energetika Ljubljana was able to reduce the price of heat is the lower expected fuel cost until the end of this year. Due to favourable weather conditions, a more economical structure of fuel consumption is possible – more production from coal and the use of cheaper extra light fuel oil instead of gas.

No changes until the end of the year

We are not planning to change the price of heat in Ljubljana until the end of this year. The supply of heat is regulated, and price changes can only be made in case of actual changes in the costs of energy products and emission coupons, which affect the cost of heat production, both upwards and downwards. The primary energy products for heat production in Ljubljana's district heating system are coal, wood biomass, gas and/or extra light fuel oil (which can replace gas).
