The birth anniversary of the architect jože plečnik

On Plečnik's birth anniversary, Sunday 23 January, free guided tours of the so called Plečnik's Ljubljana will be run at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m..

The architect Jože Plečnik (1872-1957) left an indelible stamp on the architecture of Ljubljana. Vienna and Prague, where he lived and worked for many years, perhaps inspired some of his best and most original works, but it was only upon his return to Ljubljana, his birthplace, that he truly rounded off his oeuvre by combining into a whole his architectural ideas from the past and those which were far in advance of his time.

Ljubljana's new Krakovski Nasip Outdoor Gallery hosts an exhibition of fine art photographs depicting works by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.

On Plečnik's birth anniversary, Sunday 23 January, free guided tours of the so called Plečnik's Ljubljana will be run at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for up to 30 people at a time.

The tours, organized by Ljubljana Tourism, will include a visit to Plečnik House, the architect's home in Ljubljana. Free tickets are available from theTIC Ljubljana tourist information centre (Adamič-Lundrovo nabrežje 2).
