Trans-European prevention campaign Speed Control Marathon

Ljubljana is taking part in the trans-European preventive campaign Speed Control Marathon, which started on Wednesday, 20 May 2020.

The aim of the campaign is to ensure the highest level of safety possible for all traffic participants. Our active support of the Vision ZERO of the Safe Journey Institute also continues.

As measures with regard to the coronavirus epidemic are relaxing, more vehicles are returning to our streets, and beautiful days are luring bikers back on the streets. Kindergartens have opened their doors, as well as schools for their youngest pupils, and so there are more children on the streets again in comparison to previous weeks. That is why this is an opportune moment for another warning that speeding is still the most common cause of traffic accidents.
The City of Ljubljana Municipal Police Department is therefore participating in the trans-European preventive campaign Speed Control Marathon, in which they are going to carry out monitoring of speed limits with technical means. The campaign is starting on Wednesday, 20 May, while monitoring with automated speed measuring devices is already underway.

Vision ZERO

The City of Ljubljana is the first in Slovenia to actively take part in the Vision ZERO of the Safe Journey Institute, with which we are fulfilling our commitment to do everything to reduce the number of dead and seriously injured on our roads. Mayor Zoran Janković is the first mayor in Slovenia to sign the commitment with public support to the activities of the Vision ZERO.
Why is following speed restrictions, paying attention and conforming to other traffic participants so important and how does it contribute to this aim? You will find the answer to this question in the new promotional video for the Vision ZERO.
