Travel Trade Show in Berlin

On 8 March 2017, Mayor Zoran Janković attended the opening of the Travel Trade Show ITB Berlin, where Ljubljana is also one of the exhibitors.

At the trade show Mayor Zoran Janković met with the Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller, they talked about strengthening good relationships between the two cities and among other things exchanged their opinions on the positive attitude towards migrants in both cities.
The Travel Trade Show ITB Berlin is one of the leading travel trade shows in the world presenting current year trends and programmes. Over 11,000 tourist operators from 186 countries across the world are presented on 160,000 m2. Some 195,000 visitors are expected. Next to the London trade show the ITB Berlin is the biggest trade show presenting year-round tourist and free-time services with congressional and cultural tourism in the focus this year.
Each year the trade show has two main partners, in addition to the general, a thematic partner, and this year Slovenia assumed this role. Commercially Slovenia is a very appealing destination for German visitors. Among other things are interested in its cultural and culinary aspect, which is strongest in Ljubljana. In the past ten years we are recording an increase of overnight stays in Ljubljana and its surroundings, and guest from Germany hold the second place on the visitors list.
At the trade show Ljubljana is presented as a modern and dynamic capital city centrally positioned in the Alps-to-Adriatic region, and as such it is ideal for »getting to know the whole Slovenia and Europe, as well«. Ljubljana’s main animation of is linked to the Plečnik year 2017, namely, this year we are marking the 145th anniversary of the birth and the 60th anniversary of the death of the renowned architect Jože Plečnik who created the city of Ljubljana as we know it today.
