Trees on the jakopič promenade

On the basis of cultural protection consent from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, professional opinion from the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation and expert opinion from Tise d.o.o., the City of Ljubljana has started to remove trees from the Jakopič Promenade in Tivoli Park.

Due to the presence of fungi and other diseases, the presence of decay in the root system, poor growing conditions, the age of the trees, and not least because of the possibility of tree collapse (which has already happened in recent years), 29 horse chestnut trees are to be removed.
All of the old trees will be replaced with trees of the same species, while all the young trees that have been planted in the last few years to replace older collapsed specimens plus all the trees to be planted as replacements will in this way be given better growing conditions.
