We are further expanding the BicikeLJ system
This fall we have brought bicycles in the self-service bicycle rental system BicikeLJ even closer to our citizens by setting up 9 new locations with 90 bicycles. Ljubljana has already 72 BicikeLJ stations and 720 bicycles.
New BicikeLJ system stations have been set up at the following locations:
• Swimming pool Kolezija (Gunduličeva ulica, at the roundabout)
• Vič field (Cesta na Brdo, at the bus stop with the same name – direction centre)
• Koseze pond (at the children’s playground)
• Dravlje (at the LPP bus stop Kompas – direction centre)
• Črnuče (at Dunajska cesta, at the crossroads with Cesta Ceneta Štuparja)
• Studenec (at Zaloška cesta, at the LPP bus stop Studenec – direction centre)
• Polje (Zadobrovška cesta, at the cemetery)
• Zalog (Zaloška cesta, at the crossroads with Agrokombinatska cesta)
• Lidl – Rudnik (Lidl store, Betettova cesta; the stop was financed by the company Lidl Slovenija).
And so we have fulfilled the wishes of many citizens to set up BicikeLJ stops, but not all, as due to the immense popularity of the system we keep receiving new initiatives. We are going to implement nine of them already next year when we are going to set up new stations, also with the help from the companies Lek (2), Hofer, Supernova, Ikea and Butan plin.
We started in 2011
In May 2011, the City of Ljubljana launched in public-private partnership with the company Europlakat a bicycle rental or sharing system known primarily under the name BicikeLJ. The first hour of use is free-of-charge which contributed to the popularity of the system and consequentially to the higher share of cycling
