Mayor Zoran Janković made honorary citizen of Sarajevo

The Mayor was awarded the title of the honorary citizen of Sarajevo at the proposal of the local mayor Abdulah Skaka.

The Mayor expressed his gratitude for the title he received. He said that many times he not only said but also showed how much he loves Sarajevo and hopes that the people of Sarajevo feel the same way.

His love for Sarajevo was born on 1 December 2000, when the first Mercator Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened. Vlado Kreslin, Kemal Monteno, Oliver Dragojević and Đorđe Balašević performed at the opening.

In Ljubljana, under the leadership of Mayor Zoran Janković, we provided the conditions for constructing the Islamic Religious and Cultural Center. The Mayor emphasized that the most deserving for the construction of the mosque in Ljubljana was Mufti Dr. Nedžad Grabus, who in his opinion is the best mufti, would also be a great Grand mufti, whom he was happy to help. He added that with the construction of the Islamic Religious and Cultural Center, Ljubljana has once again shown tolerance and multiculturalism.

The connection between Sarajevo and Ljubljana was established in 2002 when the Protocol on Cooperation between the capitals of Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina was signed. In Ljubljana, we also named a street after Sarajevo.
