Ljubljana has the first park named after a same-sex couple
Between Prijateljeva ulica and Cimpermanova ulica in Prule, the Ada Škerl and Sonja Plaskan Park, the first park in Slovenia named after a same-sex couple, was inaugurated on the occasion of the 101st birthday of the poet Ada Škerl.

We are continuing the campaign to remove illegal advertising surfaces
As part of the traditional spring campaign For a More Beautiful Ljubljana, we are also presenting a campaign to remove illegal advertising surfaces, which is being carried out by the City of Ljubljana Inspectorate. We launched the campaign in 2023, and to date we have already removed 586 advertising surfaces, and the removal is still ongoing.

Only a validated ticket is a valid ticket
The Ljubljana passenger transport company Ljubljanski potniški promet emphasises how important it is to validate your ticket every time you board a bus. This is crucial both in terms of passenger insurance and efficient planning of transport capacity.

International Zero Waste Day
On 30 March, we mark the International Zero Waste Day, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2022. Ljubljana adopted its Waste Management Strategy or the Zero Waste Plan for the period 2014–2035 back in 2014 and became a member of the Zero Waste Europe network in the same year, making us the first capital city in the European Union to join this network.

Ljubljana is once again awarded the international title City of Trees
The Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have once again recognized our activities and measures in the field of urban tree care in 2024 and awarded us the title City of Trees for the sixth consecutive year.

Ilirija Sports Center opened its doors
On Tuesday, 18 March 2025, we officially opened the Ilirija Sports Center. With the new, modern sports center in the city center, we have provided top athletes and recreational sportsmen with quality conditions for training and recreation, in addition to obtaining a space with modern equipment for holding major international competitions.

Survey on travel habits in the City of Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Urban Region 2024
Ten years after the last survey of travel habits of residents of the City of Ljubljana and the Ljubljana Urban Region (2013), a new one was conducted, in which more than 6,000 people from the area of the City of Ljubljana and other municipalities of the Ljubljana Urban Region answered questions about their travel habits, ownership of a personal car, number of trips per day, purposes of trips, modes of transport used, time and duration of trips, etc.
