Firecrackers? No, thanks!
At the City of Ljubljana, we are joining the campaign »Firecrackers? No, thanks! – Can you hear their fear?«, which draws attention to the suffering of animals and the dangers of using firecrackers among young people.
The »Firecrackers? No, thanks!« campaign aims to directly address young teenagers in particular and encourage them to consider the consequences of their actions. The campaign highlights the distress of animals exposed to loud bangs and calls for empathy, responsible behaviour and respect for the law.
The use of firecrackers causes immense distress among animals, who have extremely sensitive hearing and do not understand the origin of loud sounds. Despite the legal ban on selling firecrackers in Slovenia, they are still widely used, as young people buy them through social networks such as TikTok and Instagram, or on the black market.
Instead of buying pyrotechnics, you can visit the Little Pyromaniac (Piromanček) shop website of the Gmajnice Animal Shelter and contribute to the socialization of dogs with behavioural problems at the Gmajnice Animal Shelter, as much as you can.
