The holiday weekend on Saturday, 16 August 2025, brought a new daily record for passengers transported by the funicular railway – 3,685 in a single day.

The Ljubljana Castle funicular railway reached a new milestone on Saturday, 16 August 2025 – the highest number of passengers transported in a single day, namely 3,685. This surpassed the previous record from 15 August 2018, when 3,670 passengers were transported in one day, by 15 passengers.

The past weekend – combined with the holiday on Friday, 15 August – also saw a high number of visitors; entrance counters recorded 21,240 visits to Ljubljana Castle over the three days, indicating a successful season for the most visited tourist attraction in the capital and beyond, which has welcomed more than 807,000 visitors so far this year.
