International meeting on migrant integration at City Hall

The City Hall hosted an international meeting of partners of the project Empowering Migrant Voices for Local Integration and Inclusion (EMV-LII) from 21 to 23 May 2025.

The aim of the meeting was to coordinate project activities and exchange good practices in local migrant integration. With this meeting, Ljubljana confirms its role as an example of an inclusive and open community that actively supports the participation of all residents in shaping local policies.

Presentation of good practices

The introductory part took place in the City Hall, where the participants were welcomed by Deputy Mayor Boštjan Koritnik. Katarina Štrukelj, MA, from the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for the Support and Integration of Migrants, Tilen Božič from the Municipality of Idrija, Irina Karamarković – President of the Migrants' Advisory Council Graz, and Števan Grasgruber-Kerl, EMV-LII project coordinator, presented their work and good practices.

The rest of the session was dedicated to work meetings of the project partners, visits to information points for foreigners, and presentations of successful practices in integrating migrants from Slovenia and abroad (e.g. a visit to the Workers' Counselling Centre, Slovene Philanthropy).

Aim: greater local inclusion of migrants

The City of Ljubljana is collaborating in the project together with the Gmajna Cultural Association, the Peace Institute and the Association of Municipalities of Slovenia. Slovenian partners are conducting workshops, training courses and preparing proposals for strategic documents with the aim of greater local inclusion of migrants.
