Ljubljana Castle successfully completed last year
Ljubljana Castle had been visited by almost 1,300,000 guests in 2024, and the funicular railway transported over 575,000 passengers. With the opening of the last renovated space – the multi-purpose Casemate Hall – the renovation and revitalization of the castle was completed, a major overhaul of the funicular railway was also carried out, the entrance bridge was renovated, and the Gostilna na Gradu restaurant was revamped.
In total, 319 events, 1033 guided tours, and 324 wedding ceremonies were held on the castle premises. The main summer exhibition of photographs by Jako Ivančič, Slovenia: Symphony of Views, was viewed by over 40,000 visitors. The programs they implement have been enriched; they are now offering: City Break among the Castle Walls and Vines, Picnic among the Castle Vines, and spatial projection In the Embrace of Impressionism. The vines in the castle vineyard produced plenty of fruit last year – they had a successful seventh harvest and bottling of the quality 2023 vintage. The Culinary Time Machine was included in the collection of Unique Experiences of Slovenia and received the highest rating and the 2024 Sower award. The Strelec restaurant at Ljubljana Castle and its chef Igor Jagodic were again awarded a Michelin star.
As holders of the Green Key and Slovenia Green Attraction certificates, they will continue their activities in the area of sustainable tourism; we want to achieve a more substantial shift in this field this year in mobility or sustainable forms of arrival to the castle during major events.
