Renovation of the Pharmacy at the Polyclinic
Lekarna Ljubljana will begin the renovation of the Pharmacy at the Polyclinic on 28 August 2025.
This pharmacy provides 24-hour continuous access to medicines for residents. The 24-hour service will therefore be temporarily relocated to the pharmacy on Metelkova ulica.
The Pharmacy at the Polyclinic will be closed from 28 to 31 August 2025, and from 1 September onwards, it will operate with limited services and shortened opening hours. It will be open Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 19:30. Dispensing will take place on the lower floor, and the range of products will be limited to prescription and non-prescription medicines as well as basic medical supplies.
The 24-hour pharmacy service in Ljubljana will, during the renovation, be provided by the Metelkova Pharmacy at the Ljubljana Community Health Centre – Unit Center (Metelkova 9).
The Pharmacy at the Polyclinic was relocated to its current location 14 years ago. Since then, the number of patients using the 24-hour service has increased, as has the number of prescriptions for complex magistral medicines prepared at the pharmacy. The equipment, especially the automated pharmacy system for storing and dispensing medicines, has become completely worn out due to continuous operation.
The renovation will better adapt the pharmacy to the needs of the 24-hour service. A new, larger pharmacy robot and automated payment machines will be installed on the ground floor, two dispensing stations for the 24-hour service and a waiting area for patients will be set up, more suitable facilities will be provided for the preparation of magistral medicines, the self-service section of the pharmacy will also be reorganised, along with the selection of certain general consumer products.
The works are expected to be completed in December 2025. Lekarna Ljubljana assures that users of pharmacy services will continue to receive professional support and appropriate access to medicines even during this temporary adaptation period.
