Successful RCERO Ljubljana open day
On Friday, 13. June 2025, the Regional Waste Management Centre – RCERO – held an open day.
Voka Snaga employees took enthusiastic visitors on a tour of the facilities and equipment, where mixed municipal and biological waste from almost a third of Slovenia is processed in one location. RCERO Ljubljana encompasses an expanded landfill, a leachate treatment plant and waste processing facilities. The main part consists of three facilities where mechanical-biological waste processing takes place. They process separately collected biological waste, mixed municipal waste, bulky waste, wood waste and green cuttings.
RCERO Ljubljana is the biggest environmental cohesion project in the country. It began operating at the end of 2015. It is an example of good practice in the field of integration and cooperation between municipalities, serving as a connecting element in waste management between municipalities and regions in Slovenia. It currently includes 46 municipalities.
