This year, as part of the traditional campaign For a More Beautiful Ljubljana, we also selected the Best Apartment Building of 2024 in Ljubljana. The apartment buildings at Bilečanska ulica 4 and Ptujska ulica 26 were in the final selection, while the citizens chose the multi-apartment building at Ptujska ulica 26 as the Best Apartment Building in an online vote. This is the third Best Apartment Building located in the Bežigrad District Community.

While in previous years the proposals for the Best Apartment Building were submitted by the District Communities, this year we left this task to the citizens. From the proposals received, the expert committee selected two finalists, and the decision on the final winner was once again left to the citizens. They decided that the title of Best Apartment Building of 2024 would be awarded to the residents of Ptujska ulica 26. They will receive the Best Apartment Building plaque and flag, 20 Ljubljana rose saplings and a reduced electricity rate for common areas from the energy company Energetika Ljubljana.

The Best Apartment Building is an example for buildings in the area

The building at Ptujska ulica 26 was built in 1964 and contains 22 apartments. In 2023, the building underwent major investment renovations, which included thermal insulation of the walls, renovation of the facade, replacement of most of the windows and refurbishment of the heating system, and the building also has a thermally insulated attic. All of these investments are also reflected in energy efficiency, as the building has an energy performance certificate C.

The building is in harmony with its surroundings and functions as a design entity. More than half of the building's joinery and blinds are uniform. The land and wider surroundings are also landscaped, even though the land is not owned by the apartment owners of the award-winning apartment building.
The residents also take exemplary care of the interior spaces. They are clean and tidy, the walls are freshly painted and clean, the staircase railing is maintained, the notice board is tidy, mailboxes and doorbells/intercoms are uniform, and motion detection sensors are also installed.
Residents have access to an indoor and a small outdoor bicycle shed, a common waste collection point, and there is an accessible intervention path.

The Best Apartment Building campaign in Ljubljana has been running since 2016 at the citizens' initiative. Its main purpose is to encourage residents of apartment buildings to do their best on a daily basis to ensure that their building reflects clean, orderly and sustainably oriented coexistence.
