Between 29 January and 4 February 2025, you can see six top performances by city theatres from six republics of the former Yugoslavia on the stage of the Ljubljana City Theatre as part of the regional theatre festival Ruta. It is an important cultural event that is gaining recognition both on the local and regional levels.

The Belgrade Drama Theatre, the Drama Theatre Skopje, the Chamber Theatre 55 from Sarajevo, the Culture Center Tivat from Montenegro, the Ulysses Theatre from Zagreb and the Ljubljana City Theatre will participate with top performances. This year's festival also features the Ivan Vazov National Theatre from Sofia (Bulgaria).

The Ruta festival is writing a resounding story about connecting city theatres. In its five years of operation, it has exceeded expectations: it has become one of the most anticipated theatre events in Ljubljana, tickets for performances are generally sold out, the local audience is enthusiastic, and professional and friendly ties have been forged between theatre creators.
