The University Botanic Gardens Ljubljana adorned with a new fence
On Wednesday, 20. November 2024, we symbolically opened the new fence of the University Botanic Gardens Ljubljana.
The University Botanic Gardens Ljubljana was initially surrounded by a wooden fence, but during the reconstruction of the Ig Road in 1955, a fence with concrete pillars and mesh fillings was erected, and with the current reconstruction of the road, after 214 years, the garden got a very special fence, designed by Deputy Mayor Assoc. Prof. Rok Žnidaršič.
Special pedestrian crossing
In the spring, we painted a special pedestrian crossing on Ig Road in front of the entrance to the University Botanic Gardens Ljubljana with which we convey that Ljubljana is a city with remarkable biodiversity.
As part of nature, we humans are deeply dependent on biodiversity, so it is crucial that we are aware of its importance. Given the exceptional significance of the University Botanic Gardens Ljubljana in protecting plant and animal species from extinction, we have designed this crossing in front of its entrance.
