Numerous non-governmental organizations are operating in Ljubljana, each of which makes a significant contribution to the quality of life in our city in its own field.

On World NGO Day, we would like to thank all their representatives and volunteers for their dedicated work and their contribution to a better society.

The work of non-governmental organizations extends to all areas of life and includes all groups of residents, as they, among other things, ensure a high quality of leisure time, promote sports activities for different generations, bring the world of culture, art, nature and society as a whole closer, include vulnerable groups in everyday life, ensure intergenerational and intercultural cooperation, enable active ageing, and offer assistance and support to the elderly.

At the City of Ljubljana, we appreciate the work that representatives of non-governmental organizations, together with volunteers, do for all of us and we support their operation. Every year, we allocate around 22 million euros from the budget of the City of Ljubljana to support the implementation of more than 2,300 various high-quality programs and projects, and we also provide non-governmental organizations, associations and clubs with over 500 spaces and sports facilities free of charge.
