European funds for projects of the City of Ljubljana
The City of Ljubljana continues to successfully draw on European funds. At the end of last month, the Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development approved co-financing for the development of the Savsko naselje Sports Park and the renovation of Bloudek Park in Tivoli, and our EffiComfort project was also selected for co-financing as part of the call for proposals for the most innovative projects in cities.

Ljubljana has the first park named after a same-sex couple
Between Prijateljeva ulica and Cimpermanova ulica in Prule, the Ada Škerl and Sonja Plaskan Park, the first park in Slovenia named after a same-sex couple, was inaugurated on the occasion of the 101st birthday of the poet Ada Škerl.

We are continuing the campaign to remove illegal advertising surfaces
As part of the traditional spring campaign For a More Beautiful Ljubljana, we are also presenting a campaign to remove illegal advertising surfaces, which is being carried out by the City of Ljubljana Inspectorate. We launched the campaign in 2023, and to date we have already removed 586 advertising surfaces, and the removal is still ongoing.

International Zero Waste Day
On 30 March, we mark the International Zero Waste Day, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2022. Ljubljana adopted its Waste Management Strategy or the Zero Waste Plan for the period 2014–2035 back in 2014 and became a member of the Zero Waste Europe network in the same year, making us the first capital city in the European Union to join this network.

Ljubljana is once again awarded the international title City of Trees
The Arbor Day Foundation and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have once again recognized our activities and measures in the field of urban tree care in 2024 and awarded us the title City of Trees for the sixth consecutive year.
