It is known that natural dyes are obtained from various parts of plants.
Invasive alien plant species and their different parts will be explored for extraction and possible production of dyes or pigments that are suitable for textile dyeing and paper printing. Procedures for extraction of dyes and recipes for textile dyeing in paper printing will be developed and used at workshops for different target groups. The participants will learn to prepare water-based dyes from leaves, flowers, roots or bark of various invasive alien plant species and to dye selected textiles.
Extracted dyes will be incorporated into hybrid coatings that will also contain compounds (lignin, ferulic acid, PHAs) obtained from the paper production residuals, which will result in new functions of the coatings. Dyes coated to the glass surface will be used in the solar cell to increase the absorption of light.
