Many invasive alien species are cultivated mostly as ornamental plants. The number of alien plant species in Slovenia with a known potential for invasiveness is increasing.
As part of the project, we will develop a public (free of charge) app for identification of 25 invasive alien plant species and produceshort films about their identification and removal. We will also produce 3D models of 15 species.
The prevalence of plant species will be determined by analyzing aerial imaging ortofoto records, as well as Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. We will also carry out a field survey of the presence of invasive alien plant species on public land owned by the City of Ljubljana.
We will organize 60 volunteer action events where participants will learn about the issues of invasive alien plant species, their identification and removal methods. 70 natural science activity days will be organized for preschool and primary school children. We will also organize 30 workshops for senior citizens, where they will learn about the issues of invasive alien plant species, their identification and ways of processing them into new products.
