Electric vehicle Kavalir
In the pedestrian zone of the city centre five free-of charge electric vehicles are available to everyone who has difficulty walking. The first two were introduced to test the »Demand-Responsive Transport« service as one of the services of the public passenger transport company Ljubljanski potniški promet within the framework of the European project CIVITAS Elan in 2009, and because of their immense popularity we bought additional vehicles. Due to their low speeds passengers can simply hail them as they are driving or order them by calling the numbers 031/666 331, 031/666 332, 031/666 299. Up to five passengers can travel free-of-charge in a Kavalir, which drives without fixed stops according to passengers' wishes.
Funicular railway to the Ljubljana Castle
Modern and unobtrusively designed funicular railway, which since December 2006 complements the traditional cultural identity of the Ljubljana Castle, is popular among local and foreign visitors alike. It offers a beautiful view of the city and is indispensable as a fast and comfortable connection with the old town centre. The funicular can take 33 passengers on board and the ride up the side of the Castle Hill is one minute long. The height difference between both stops is slightly less than 70 metres.
Boat and piers
The renovation of the banks of the Ljubljanica River and the construction of new bridges gave new life to Ljubljanica which is running through the city centre. Especially popular are river rides with tourist boats. In addition to regular tours most of the boats can be hired on demand. You can board the boats at the following river piers: under the Butcher’s Bridge (Mesarski most), in Fish Square (Ribji trg), in Mansion Square (Dvorni trg), at the Špica embankment (Špica), at the Gallus Embankment (Gallusovo nabrežje) and others. In 2015 we opened 12 new river boat moorings, 2500 m2 of new harbour surfaces and 2 communal moorings for firefighters and the police as well as a building for vessel repairs and maintenance. You can also get to know Ljubljanica on a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) or in a kayak.
