14th Ljubljana marathon

On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October the 14th Ljubljana marathon is to take place, which every year attracts ever larger numbers of participants from Slovenia and abroad.

The Ljubljana marathon, organised by the City of Ljubljana, is intended for every generation, who test their preparation, strength and stamina by running the city's streets.

Participants may select between a fun run, half marathon (21km) or the full marathon (42km). A distinctive touch is also given to the Ljubljana marathon by the shorter routes given to schoolchildren and the unique pre-schoolchildren's run, whose first steps to the goal of a full marathon are usually taken with their parents.
The marathon route is mainly flat and runs along the roads and streets in the city centre, Vič, Bežigrad and Šiška. The start is in front of the parliament building on Šubičeva ulica, and the finish on Trg Republike. Marathon runners will do two 21km laps of the course with a time limit on the first lap for 42km runners of 2 hours 15 minutes.
The deadline for registration for the 14th Ljubljana marathon is 20 October 2009, and you may register online via the webform available at www.ljubljanskimaraton.si, where you may also obtain full details.
Registration forms are also available at Timing Ljubljana, in the Ljubljana Tourist Information Centre and at Intersport outlets. Completed registrations can be sent to: 14th Ljubljana Marathon Organising Committee, Timing Ljubljana, Association for Sports Programme Implementation, Staničeva 41, 1000 Ljubljana by 20 October 2009 at the latest.
Due to its relatively easy routes and usually pleasant autumn weather as well as its excellent organisation, the Ljubljana marathon for most participants and spectators means a wonderful close to the running season.

Welcome!
