15th ljubljana marathon

One of the capital's greatest sporting events – the Ljubljana marathon, in which almost 18,000 runners took part, the most in its history.

The 15th Ljubljana marathon was held on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October 2010.

The starting pistol for the 42km race was fired by Mayor Zoran Janković at 10.30am on Sunday 24 October on Šubičeva cesta in front of the Slovenian Parliament, while later that day he presented awards and medals to the best on Trg republike.

The women's 42km race in the 15th Ljubljana marathon was won by Ethiopian Tiruwork Mekonnen, while the men's race was won by Kenyan Evans Ruto. New record times for Ljubljana over these longest distances were not set this year.
