1970 basketball world cup golden generation at the house of sport and raising the eurobasket 2013 shirt
On Sunday 18 August, the House of Sport was the venue of a meeting of the ‘golden generation’ of basketball players from the 1970 World Championships, while prior to the meeting Mayor Zoran Janković and Slovenian Basketball Association President Roman Volčič raised the EuroBasket 2013 shirt over Breg.
On Sunday 18 August 2013, the House of Sport was visited by the Yugoslav basketball team that took gold medal in the 1970 World Championships in Ljubljana, namely: manager Ranko Žeravica, his assistant Lazar Lečić, captain Ivo Daneu, Dragutin Čermak, Nikola Plečaš, Petar Skansi, Damir Šolman, Rato Tvrdić, Aljoša Žorga and one of the lead organisers of the 1970 World Championships Boris Kristančič.
On this occasion there was also a press conference at the House of Sport and the golden basketball players of 1970 signed the City of Ljubljana’s Memorial Book.
Prior to the meeting at the House of Sport and in the presence of the 1970 team, Mayor Zoran Janković and Slovenian Basketball Association President Roman Volčič raised the EuroBasket 2013 shirt over Breg.
The golden generation were also honoured at half time during the friendly between Slovenia and Russia on Sunday evening, 18 August 2013 at Tivoli Hall, to which they returned 43 years after their triumph.
